Google Plus and Business Social Interactivity
We are now entering a new cyber media era. With Facebook as the number two in popularity on the web because of its social media platform and style of interactivity, Google Plus (+) has designed what I am leaning to believe it’s a better platform of social media interactivity. Google already has the number one spot in popularity thanks to the search engine algorithms that puts it all together for users everywhere. We love it so much we’ve made Google a verb that represents searching the internet for whatever you want – and you’ll find an answer. If you ever felt you didn’t know something and wanted an answer, Google –it was the answer!
A few years back we couldn’t wait to find all the answers in the internet and it was very frustrating to search for a particular service or business in your area and come up with no results, when you knew the business you were looking for was nearby. We’ve made huge progress since those days. Google has played a big role in that, if not the biggest, but we can’t forget the other search engines, databases, directories, and all sort of helpful websites in the internet.
Google Places and Google Plus
Just about two years ago Google was becoming well known for their business locations, they saw well in advance what many of us saw, but they took action and brought as many businesses as they could within our reach, free of charge to the business owners, all they had to do was search their own business in Google places and claim their page. There has never been a charge for that and once you claim it you can customize it, add pictures, correct information such as addresses, phone numbers, and perhaps even the name, make it a marketing tool. It has been a rather simple task, and yet nearly 95% of businesses did not and have not taken advantage of this free service. And now Google has gone a bit further, now they have Google Plus (+) which a lot of people thought it wouldn’t work because they saw it as competition to Facebook when in reality is not because it is something entirely different and to my way of thinking geared towards the business entrepreneur rather than individuals.
The merge of Google Places page and Google Plus (+) brings about a great platform to connect and interact with other businesses, customers, and any other companies or people of their interest. I believe this is going to be a great new way use the web places particularly for those who never felt comfortable with Facebook or Twitter. Here is a system that will ease the transition of having just a website to having a strong presence in social media, their customers, communities, and third party contacts.
The article that brought my attention to the new Google Plus (+) and inspired me to write is titled Google Places Is Over, Company Makes Google+ The Center Of Gravity For Local Search by Greg Sterling of Search Engine Land, it’s a very descriptive article on the features the new and improved Google Plus (+) offers. Although if you haven’t done much in Google Plus (+) it may seem unfamiliar or hard to follow. Just a day or two before this change was official I had seen some changes when doing some work for a client, and I notice new components, the page looked different, at least some places where I was, I felt it makes communicating with one another easier. There is huge potential for many businesses actually becoming more interactive in this platform with their customers and communities. The future of a business success is most definitely on their interaction with the community and customers they serve. This is a great way to display that and get started if you haven’t thought of that for your business.
